Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
In 1814, this was elected as the King of Cheeses in France. From Ile-de-France, this creamy cheese is made of cow's milk. Its outstanding taste includes hazelnut, herb and a fruity flavor that is irresistible. Brie de Meaux has the AOC approval as an elite cheese. Brie de Meaux is arguably the most popular out of France's 400+ cheeses. This first class cheese matures for 2 months before it is ready for sale.

1 out of 5 stars This may not be Brie de Meaux   February 12, 2008

I don't see the typical A.O.C. sticker (appelation d'origine controlee) that is required to be on true Brie De Meaux. If it doesn't have that sticker, it's not the real thing. I am very concerned that this is not the real thing. If you blow up the picture, it does not even say Brie de Meaux.

If this is real, Amazon needs to get the right pictures to prove it, including the A.O.C. certification sticker.

1 out of 5 stars Not Brie de Meaux!   March 25, 2007

Touting this cheese as "Brie de Meaux" is very close to false advertising. It is NOT Brie de Meaux, which is a fabulous, soft-ripened cheese made from raw milk and aged less than 6 weeks. The Fromage de Meaux is made from pasteurized milk and is a joke compared to the REAL thing.

It is bad enough that producers of manufactured cheese-products in our country keep lobbying to not allow wonderful French cheeses into the U.S. They imply that people are likely to die from eating these cheeses. According to verifiable health records, in the last 20 years, that happened one time, to a very old person with compromised health. It is VERY BAD to pretend you are offering a widely recognized, superb product, when in fact, what you have is a pasteurized substitute.

1 out of 5 stars wrong picture?   January 16, 2007

The cheese pictured is Fromage de Meaux which is the pasteurized version of the famed Brie de Meaux - so which cheese is this? Brie de Meaux typically isn't allowed into the country, so perhaps they should change the name of this product.
