I drink MonaVie juice on a daily basis and enjoy the taste. Plus, I'm a sucker for its promised health benefits and swanky wine-bottle packaging. It was a natural fit then that I'd try the gel packs in order to continue to get the promised health benefits when I was on the road. I figured that they'd taste like a more concentrated version of the juice and have the consistency of a gel. Maybe that's exactly what the experience is, but whatever it is, it sure isn't pleasant.
My whole family doubled over, laughing with delight, as they watch my face contort in anguish as first I squirted the tart sludge from the package into my mouth. The texture reads somewhere in the "sticky goo" realm, binding the intensely nasty flavor to every part of your mouth so that you can't be rid of it in under five minutes or so. It's enough to make you take the chance with your health of only having MonaVie when you're not on the road.
So, if you are a devotee of MonaVie and you just don't want to be without it for that long weekend in Peoria, the gel packs are a convenient option, but don't expect an experience that is akin to the juice in a wine bottle. It's just not the same. On the upside, you may just delight your family twice each day.
