Product Description History suggests that the Sesame Seed is the first recorded seasoning, dating back to 3000 BC, Assyria. It grows widely throughout the Orient and India. Sesame Seeds were brought to America by the African Slaves who referred to the seed as the "Benne Seed". This seed soon became very popular with southern cooking. These seeds are highly valued, being rich in protein and in polyunsaturated oil. Typically, Sesame Seeds are pressed into oils or made into pastes to serve as flavoring agents or in sauces. These flat, tiny seeds have a rich, nutty, sweet flavor which allows them to be used in many different dishes. The Sesame Seed is usually a pale white color, but can also be found black. The Black Sesame Seed is less common and has a more concentrated flavor than the White Sesame.

| Customer Reviews:
super tasty and great price! October 16, 2008 Pirate Jenny (North Jersey) I bought 2 little jars of "Sushi Chef" black sesame seeds from my grocery store...when I put some in a salad, I noticed a bitter, almost mildewy flavor. These seeds from Angelina's are SO tasty and fresh!!! Sprinkle them on top or mix them into hummus for some unusual color contrast! According to Chinese medicine, black foods like these seeds, black beans, squid ink, & caviar help strengthen the kidneys.
bulk size, clean and fresh February 12, 2008 Theresa A. M. Earth (MN, USA) got here in time, the product was in great quality, fresh, clean I will definitely reorder again.
